<lj:music>On the Radio</lj:music>

Alright, alright, alright.

So I'm running on three hours of sleep and in the midst of studying for a huge exam that takes place at 8 AM tomorrow in my least favorite class, Eroticism and Love in the medieval ages. Right now the room is a mess and I have crap strewn all over because I'm too busy (my excuse for too lazy) to clean it all up.

And I couldn't care less. I am so excited to go home for thanksgiving. I feel so ready for these next few days off and even though I need to take care of a couple really big projects while I'm home I don't even care. I know it will all work itself out.

Today for some reason I had a craving for a hot dog while we were waiting to perform our freshman Debut! interpretive show for a gened class. So I got one at the hot dog stand and it might have been the best $1.75 I have spent in Tucson.

That was random. I don't even like hot dogs.

Anyhow I guess I'm rambling now and I hope everyone is doing well and I can't wait to get home and see all the people I missed and be awkward around the ones I kind of missed but not really. The time for studying awaits!

Bye.

Improv was last night. This was the last one for me and I felt really kinda sentimental to leave it because Improv was what really got me involved in theatre last year. But I couldn't have hoped for a better show, it was really just a night where everyone shined. At the end I just wanted to keep going but all things must pass. I was really proud of everyone. Anyhow here are some pictures that I hope will work. Both have completely drained me but they were still a lot of fun to do. Now I have AP tests starting tomorrow which means I shouldn't be updating but rather studying and I know that in two hours I have to watch Jack Bauer try and save the world from the evil clutches of the sadistic president logan. My life could not be more hectic.

At least I'm not bored.

I was nominated for Prom King.
I am really surprised because I've never done anything like that with the popularity contests of STUGO or dance royalty. But I think it's great that enough people put down my name to nominate me, that is really a cool feeling.

OH IMPROV this Thursday and Friday, 7:00- in the auditorium.
So today after about half an hour of rehearsal for SSC Much Ado, Justin, the guy I'm understudying for came in and the director turned to me and gave me this big understanding smile and said thanks for all the work and help. I wasn't told that Justin is going to be staying through tech week and the end of the run so they wouldn't need me anymore. So then he turned to everybody and said how about everyone should give a big thanks to Rob for all the hard work and everything like that. So everyone started clapping as I was finding out that I'm now done there. I started to gather my things and the director was like "you're leaving already?" so I was like well I guess I'm done here. "Nah stick around" was his reply. But I couldn't stay, it was like immediately my status there had changed from someone who was part of the group to an outsider. It was terrible, they start tech next week and I really wanted to be there and they were all telling me drop by but it felt so awkward like I had just been cast out.

It did help that when the director made the announcement Noah ran over to the Equity Membership Candidacy box and made sure I got the form and all that. Most of the guys were really just starting to accept the "high school" kid there and it was weird to leave now.

But all in all it was an awesome experience and was something really worth while. It's weird how I wanted to have more free time for homework and friends because the rehearsals were so time consuming, but when they suddenly stopped I was let down. Bitter sweet, but now I do have more time for friends and school and maybe my life can calm down a bit. Oh well.

Bye

I'm back from an incredible weekend. UCLA is gorgeous and asian. Not to mention a terrific school. And when Randy Newman wrote "I love LA he obvously wasn't on the 405. Anyhow I auditioned there and I didn't think I wanted to post about it. I just hate talking about something important or putting myself on the line when I still have doubts about myself. That and people thinking that I'm not ready or that I'm not good enough. And the reality is that that is probably true. I went in there and had the best audition ever, and I completely nailed my interview- which they stressed more than the audition. But I'm up against such overwhelming odds that I'm finding it hard to believe in myself. I want this, really badly, and when March or April comes I hate the idea of telling people, no I didn't make it, and then receiving some encouraging phrases or replies. But I'm putting this out there for once and saying I tried. And that's what separates me from failure.

Sketch Comedy is this friday, I'm very excited. When I was at UCLA I went to a Sketch show they had there and was so impressed. The humor was outrageous- I honestly think that we could do a show like theirs, if we were permitted to write about any theme and include rampid swearing. But they were so amazing at character voices and expression. Anyhow, everyone come to Sketch this friday- it will be hilarious and PG.

I started reading The infamous Perks of Being a Wallflower today. I think it's good- i like some of the creativity but I think it takes some real literary cheapshots. And I mean that in the best way possible. Anyhow Oscar nominations are tuesday so I'll be back tomorrow to tell you who's making the cut.

Dear Arizona,

What the hell? I thought we had this worked out. I mean every year you stay hot for 3/4 the year and then cool down. Did you miss the memo? Because it is definitely winter arcording to my mother's Arizona Highways calender. This is just getting ridiculous, I get into my car after school and I start sweating because its hot so I need to turn on the A/C in January. You selfish bitch. What is it- are you trying to show off to other states? Is that it? Well I've had it with you and if you keep it up I'll tell mother earth. I hope your sorry for what you've done- you've ruined winter and made it hard for everyone to wear trendy winter clothes. Now I think you owe us all an apology.

-Rob

Yesterday I saw Capote. I hope that Phillip Seymour Hoffman starts making room on his mantelpiece for an Oscar. The movie was great- really dark and heavy. And the acting was incredible, it was so well cast. There wasn't any time that I thought oh he's acting now. So if you want to see a terrific character development story with the best actor of the year check out Capote.

Umm yeah it took King Kong and embarassed it back to the 30s. No effects, no digital remastering to appear real, just impeccable acting.

I got into Sketch Comedy today. It felt great, I tried not to let it show but this was something I really wanted, especially because I didn't make it last year. I'm looking forward to Improv and Sketch now because I think that they're consistently the best shows at DM. Either that or the most fun to do. Improv was what made me want to get into Drama Club so I'm really excited for it to come back.

Damn Othello* I really don't want to write the final draft to this essay. I can't describe how much this annoys me that I'm halfway through the next book and still writing about Othello.

*In damning Othello, the author does not damn him because he's black, but because he is a jealous chauvinist who should have stabbed himself in Act I.

This week is so crazy. I just know I'm not going to be able to keep up with it. But it'll be some high times. Golof Quintet will be hitting up the first two nights of coffee house, and then state should be fun. What I'm excited for the most is the haunted hotel but thats just me. My life is way too hectic but it's a lot of fun right no so no complaints really. Hmm- I'm gonna get started on a Hundred Years of Solitude just to be safe.
